Mommy Lesson #452

BEFORE you get the kidbits all excited & ready to go out in the backyard to watch the meteor shower.......MAKE SURE it's NOT cloudy!

I know the Perseids Meteor shower happens every August but I never know exactly when. The peak viewings were last night & the night before. I bustled up the littles only to have them be gravely disappointed when we stepped outside to see a cloud filled sky! It had been perfectly clear earlier! :o( They were SO disappointed.

I remember when I was little, somehow my dad always knew when there were some sort of 'cellestial happenings'. We'd lay on the front lawn staring up into the sky, waiting, waiting, waiting to catch a glimpse of a shooting star. He'd be visiting w/ the neighbors & the neighbor kids, our friends would be laying down w/ us.

It was lots of fun to stay out extra late on the warm summer nights. I still love to star gaze, especially when we take the family camping. You can see so much more when your 'outside' the city.
